The Permanent Secretary/Surveyor-General of Lagos State, Surv. Olutomi Sangowawa, has hosted members of the Lagos Chapter, Real Estate Development Association of Nigeria (REDAN), who paid a courtesy visit to his office as part of strategies to form a synergy that would fast-track transactions between both organisations.
Welcoming the REDAN team led by its Chairman, Mr. Bamidele Onalaja, the Permanent Secretary expressed appreciation for the cordial relationship that exists between both institutions, acknowledging that there are still outstanding issues that are being addressed for better service delivery.
Surv. Sangowawa disclosed that efforts are being made to enhance the online platform for submission of applications to improve the ease of doing business with the Office of the State Surveyor-General.
His words: “We have looked at the fast-track option, we have looked at the online submission. We are working with the Ministry of Science and Technology so that we can have an option to fast-track our processes. In a few months, you will experience improved and faster service delivery”.
Responding, the Chairman of REDAN, Mr. Bamidele Onalaja, said the visit was to familiarise the association with the Office of the State Surveyor General (OSSG) and establish further synergy that will harness the efforts of both organisations towards achieving a common goal for better service delivery.
Onalaja said, “We have over 5,000 members in the association, so, the need to collaborate with the office is pertinent. We are also here to appreciate the Office of the State Surveyor-General’s workforce for the good work of the State Government towards attaining the set goal of the megacity”.
The REDAN Chairman recalled that Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu promised to make 50-hectares of land available to the association for infrastructure development so that the private sector could partner with the State to drive the economy, appealing to the Surveyor-General for support in securing the portion of land.
Promising that REDAN is committed to contributing its quota to the development of Lagos State, Onalaja thanked the ‘fantastic team’ of the Office of the State Surveyor-General for taking its members through the processes of the establishment.
Also speaking at the forum, the Director Coordination, Transactions and Records, OSSG, Surv. Nike Tejuosho, explained that the processes of the Office of the State Surveyor-General have been reviewed to eliminate the need for everyone to require a land certificate.
“We decided to have a business process that is seamless, and that is why we introduced ‘charting’ for those who only want to know the status of their parcel of land. Charting information takes a maximum of seven days from the date of receipt of payment”, she explained.
